5 seconds is all it takes!

Last week I received a heartfelt, desperate plea from a mother, who in the last 7 years had 2 kids, quit smoking and manged to put on 30 kg in the process…
I called her and she was so excited to start getting her health and fitness back on track! As with all potential clients, I set up a free, no obligation meeting so that we could chat, and then she could decide if I was the right Trainer/Coach for her.
But guess what? She cancelled our meeting a couple of hours before we were due to meet with a lame excuse and a feeble promise that she would contact me again. I didn’t take the cancellation personally given she hadn’t even met me yet, but why, if she was feeling so desperate, could she not even just turn up for a chat?
Have you ever done that? Been so desperate to do something, but then opted out at the last minute and lived to regret the fact that you just hadn’t taken that step? I know that I have, even something simple like really wanting to meet somebody and almost walking up to them to introduce yourself, but then turning around and going back to your corner, and missing that opportunity to make an important connection.
What is it that stops us from getting what we want? 5 seconds, 5 seconds is all it takes to either take that step and change the direction of your life, or to kid yourself that you are fine and carry on the way you are going…
